Captain Doug and his wife Kathy have been enjoying life on the water since 2001. After purchasing their Kelly Peterson 44’ sailboat in the fall of 2001 in Annapolis MD they headed south. Arriving in Miami just after Christmas they began the process of getting their boar ready for extended cruising in the Caribbean. After a three-month shake down cruise to the Bahamas in 2003 they returned to Fort Lauderdale to complete the process of getting the boat ready to head out. In the fall of 2004 Doug & Kathy cast off the lines heading to the Caribbean and South America. After three years of cruising they returned to Saint Augustine, FL in 2007.
Doug worked as one of the Ships Captains for the 72’ schooner “Freedom” taking up to 49 passengers on sailing tours of the Saint Augustine area for 18 months. In the fall of 2010 they decided it was time to head south to warmer weather, back to Fort Lauderdale. Since arriving Doug and Kathy have worked as a team delivering boats up and down the East coast from Florida to Canada. They also found time to spent two winters cruising the Bahamas in 2010 and 2012. Doug began teaching boating lessons in 2011 after being certified as a Power Boat instructor by US Sailing.
Doug began taking passengers on tours of the Fort Lauderdale waterways in 2011 and has gained an extensive knowledge of the area.
Captain Doug earned his USCG 50 Ton Masters License in 2003 and up graded to a 100 Ton Master in 2009.
